Explain boudoir photography. Does that mean that women have to get naked?
While some may know the term 'boudoir' to be a derivative of the French word 'boudeur,' meaning sulky, more people will relate to the word boudoir as a lady's private bedroom or dressing room… We strive to capture the sensuality and mystique of the boudoir vibe while maintaining our clients' dignity, privacy and above all, their boundaries. Our clients are our top priority, so if getting completely naked is NOT on their priority list, this is a non-issue for us. Being naked is absolutely not synonymous with the word 'boudoir.' Not in our book."
How do you make clients comfortable with the experience? Is alcohol involved?
most definitely can be! Our staff is very warm and welcoming and we do provide a social and comfortable atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. We offer wine or champagne along with a variety of other drinks and light fare. Once the ladies have some conversation, a drink, a bite to eat, ... they get into hair and make-up, and their best jams are playing, they've forgotten about any anxieties they've had and they're just plain having the time of their lives.
Do you offer videography?

Most of the boudoir photos that we've seen show women in sexy lingerie and corsets and stockings. Do clients have to bring their own outfits or do you provide them?
This is the Spicy part! We are in the process of building our collection for future clients to have a selection available to them. However, We urge clients to create a idea board online and shop for something special of their own.
Anything from a sensual-sophisticated look, to something a little more down-and-dirty/come-and-get-me is in the works. I mean, who are we fooling? What man doesn't wanna see his sexy taco mamacita in a shredded pair of black stockings and nothing else?
We plan to have something for everyone, and we highly encourage ladies to bring a few items from their every day where closets, to make the photos more personal. This also helps to increase their comfort level if it's their first photo shoot
So…are these outfits dry-cleaned?
GOODNESS Yes! Absolutely! Who wants someone else's 'stuff' for their photo shoot? We wash all worn clothing after each and every photo shoot. This is obviously for hygiene purposes, but also to remove the inevitable make-up smudges and smears or stains... Girls can be so messy!
How much grooming are women doing before these photo shoots?
Okay, bear with us here. Unless you, personally, are still into the 70s look and like things a little more, how shall we say, 'au naturale,' we recommend shaving or waxing any area that will not be covered in a photo session. It's always best to do this a little bit before the shoot, if you have sensitive skin, to avoid razor born or Skin rash. Skin rash can be unsightly and uncomfortable. We want our clients to feel as beautiful, sexy and unconquerable as possible! Women who feel sexy, will behave sexier. It's science. Of course, anything that comes out looking 'unsightly' to our clients, once they see their photos, can be Photoshopped, if necessary.
How will you deliver my photos?
We will send you a link to a private gallery with a passcode. The passcode will only be good for a limited time. With that link you will be directed to a private online cloud gallery where you can purchase printed photos, albums, keepsakes, etc.
Do I own the copyright to my photos?
Per the contract, we actually both own the copyrights to your photos. But you’re more than welcome/have the rights to share, print, give away, use, and essentially do anything you’d like with your photos provided it’s not for commercial/monetary usage. If you decide to sell your photos or use them in a profitable/marketable way, then we’ll both need to fill out and sign a separate contract agreement.
What will you do with my photos?
On our end, we intend to only utilize your boudoir photos to promote Susan Hughes Photography, such as post our favorite images on ours and other websites, etc. A few may be entered to magazines for publishing, all of which will be web-sized only, we won’t ever give away/share your photos without your written consent. Rest assure keeping your identity and any other sensitive information private is our top priority.
However per-contract you can wish to opt. out of sharing any photos with your face in them etc.
I'm ready to book! What do I do?
Thank you so much! We’re thrilled and honored to work with you! To make everything official, you just need to determine the photography collection of your choice and its investment, fill out and sign our online contract, and pay the 25% deposit retainer. We accept many online forms of payment. Rest assure every step will be outlined and detail documented in e-mails to ensure there’s no surprises or miscommunication.
When will I receive my photos?
You can expect to see a sneak peek of your photos (about a handful) a few days afterwards, maybe sooner (on our Facebook fan page and Instagram account). Since it takes some time to go through all the images taken and remove the outtakes (someone blinking or not ready for the camera, test images, duplicates, etc.), plus we want to give ample amount of love and care in color correcting/enhancing every single one of the images you’ll get, it takes roughly 4-6 weeks total to for us to have all your images ready.
What do I need day of my photo session?
Depending on your package we recommend you book one of our HMUA so that you are pampered and glamed for such a special occasion.
If there is a chance you are not able to, we recommend you come makeup, hair ready. Make sure you have had some sort of meal before you come to ensure your best mood! We provide snacks and pampering but those things should not replace a well balanced meal.

As we know what the meaning of boudoir is. Our team adheres to self and body image empowerment. We want our clients leaving KNOWING they are that saucy, sexy, taco in the sneak peaks. We hope that it encourages our clients to be more positive in their everyday lives. Being kinder to their selves only leads to a domino affect of light and love.
